Six Sentence Sunday: The Villain

Welcome to this week's Six Sentence Sunday.  Here a six sentences from my debut romantic suspense, Beneath the Surface. The villain makes his first appearance in this scene.

The man smiled from his perch on the rented cruiser as it bobbed in the current. He tucked his binoculars into their leather case and snapped the lid shut. He’d enjoyed the show, but not the ending.

Only two of them had been on the craft. And they’d been taken away in ambulances instead of body bags. He adjusted his baggy fishing hat.

Six Sentence Sunday, Beneath The Surface

Welcome to this week's six sentences. I'm excited to share the first six sentences of my debut romantic suspense,
Beneath the Surface.

A deafening roar ripped through the air and a gust of heat whirled from the ocean, shaking the wooden dock under Brooke’s feet, hurling her forward. She threw her arms out and grabbed the railing in time to break her fall. The acrid smell of burning oil filled her nostrils, making it hard to breathe. Specks of glowing red embers fluttered around her in slow motion.
Her heart pumped hard against her ribs. What the hell just happened?

Then her eyes scanned to the writing.
MISSING.
She turned around, caught the anguished look on Garrett's face as he, too, studied the photo. He blinked several times and the corners of his mouth drew down. Pain painted his face like a shot to the gut.
He glanced from the poster and answered her unvoiced question.
"My cousin Tessa," he said, his voice cracking.

And I'm tagging these awesome 7 writers: Jan Romes

Love at First Sight (not!) #sixsunday

Welcome to this week's Six Sentence Sunday. The first six sentences from my recently released novella, Love Delivered.

Bianca lifted a box of books and bit back a curse when a heavy tome fell on her flip-flop-covered foot. She dropped the box, hopped around on her good foot, and shrieked when she spotted a grinning, dark-haired man standing at the front screen door.
“Sorry! I didn’t mean to startle you,” he said.
So what if he had a nice smile and his tan skin crinkled in a friendly way around his sky blue eyes? For all she knew he was a murderer, even if this wasn’t New York City. Her jaded attitude came from real-life experience—she’d been mugged twice in the past year. Just because this was a small town didn’t make it criminal-proof.

BENEATH THE SURFACE Gets Another 5-Star Review!

I'm thrilled to announce that my debut romantic suspense novel, Beneath the Surface, received another 5-star review.

Garrett and Brooke
Brooke and Garrett are a wonderful couple and I had the best time reading how their relationship developed and how they truly deserved each other. They both had the pain of feeling of having let down the people they loved. There is a solid emotional connection between the two that you just get lost in the story. I had a difficult time trying to guess who the villain was and I believe that is why I could not put the book down.~Cozy Reader

Six Sentence Sunday: Brooke's disability is exposed

It's my first time participating in this wonderful event! Please enjoy these six sentences from Beneath the Surface, my debut romantic suspense novel.

Brooke glanced at the shore—the red, blue and yellow emergency lights flashing—and pictured the way her mother’s body looked as it was covered and carried through a similar scene. She forced the memory to the recesses of her mind, but she’d broken her concentration just long enough to lose her balance and felt herself falling.
Gilly stepped beside her, catching her just in time.
“Oh, holy shit, what is that?” the bald deputy asked as he pointed under the seat Brooke had just vacated.
Brooke followed his gaze. “That’s my leg.”
