A lot of authors visit
fun places, and include those places in their books. In my debut novel BENEATH
THE SURFACE, Garrett’s family owns a pizzeria with a rooftop dining area that
takes Brooke’s breath away.
Good thing I don't live closer, or I might visit Finn's every day for lunch. Here's the rooftop deck. Can you hear the waves? |
If
you’ve read BENEATH THE SURFACE, the scene takes place on pages 68 through 77.
The real-life inspiration for this
restaurant is the rooftop view from Finn’s Beachside Pub in Flagler Beach , FL.
Just last week, I visited Finn’s again. Grant,
the manager, welcomed us with open arms, the staff was charming, and the food
was great. Finn’s isn’t a pizzeria, but you'll find all sorts of delicious menu items.
If you’re in Flagler Beach, be sure to take
in one of the best ocean views in town at Finn’s…who knows, maybe you’ll spot
Garrett and Brooke there. One glance at these pictures and you'll see why I fell in love with this place and had to use it in a story. Check out Finn's website for more information: http://www.finnsflagler.com/

Exactly how I pictured it when I read this scene in the book! Beautiful!
Really Grace? Wow! That's awesome!! Thanks so much for stopping by to check it out. :)
Joya,
Coincidentally, we have a condo in Palm Coast, Florida, just a short distance from Flagler Beach. We were just there last week as well. I never ate at that pub, but we do eat at Flagler Fish Company a lot and we just tried a restaurant I think called Blue in a hotel on Flagler Beach. I love staying in that area. The beach is beautiful and we weathered the tropical storm while we were there. I'll have to get your book.

Marilyn,
Wow, what an awesome coincidence! I agree that Flagler Beach is beautiful. So glad to hear you weathered the tropical storm last week!
Thanks so much for stopping by to comment. :)
Hi Joya,
I want to have a great lunch and then unload my laptop and write all day looking at over the ocean. Beautiful spot.
Oh Nancy! You're always thinking. You're so right. This would make such an incredible writing spot, too. :)
