Heroes come in all
shapes and sizes. Who's your hero?
Are you ready to hear what your favorite romance heroes have to say? Well, we authors are ready to share our hunky heroes! Starting on Friday and ending on July 31st, over 100 Authors and Bloggers will share their favorite things about romance heroes, a character post from them, and what we love about romance and men in general.
And while we do that, we are EACH doing a giveaway. Yep. There will be over 100 giveaways on each blog hosted by that Author or Blogger.
But that's not all....
We have THREE grand prizes. You as a reader can go to EACH blog and comment with your email address and be entered to win. Yep, you can enter over 100 times!
What makes a hero? In romance, it's often the drop-dead gorgeous guy with ripped abs, bulging muscles, and a weakness for the heroine. In BENEATH THE SURFACE, my debut romantic suspense, Garrett is a big, strong alpha male cop. He doesn't want to fall in love, but of course he can't resist Brooke, the heroine.
So how about real-life heroes? As much as I like to keep my handsome hubby all to myself, there's a part of him in every hero I write. I also tend to write police heroes because you just gotta love a guy who fights to keep everyone else safe, don't you?Four ways to win from July 27-31:
Joya's contest: win a $5 Amazon gift card! Comment on this blog to qualify.

For the first time since the accident, Brooke forgot about
her leg. Forgot about all she’d lost and focused on the way Garrett made her
feel.
She knew
she needed to stop him. She should find a way to resist the temptation to be
with him. But for a few minutes, she could enjoy the taste of him, the feel of
him, couldn’t she?
He dropped
his hands to her waist and softened the kiss before trailing a line of kisses
down her neck. A weak cry slipped from her mouth. “Garrett,” she whispered.
She should
stop this now before it got any more intense.
He lifted
her chin and forced her to meet his brown eyes, smoky with desire. Heat
spiraled to her middle and she caught a whiff of his sawdust scent.
“I…I can
walk you back to your own room before I head to mine.” His voice broke as he
whispered.
She
swallowed hard. She couldn’t do this right now with him. Too many obstacles
stood in their way. But as she looked in his somber eyes, she realized none of
those complications were bigger than her need for Garrett.
“Let’s go
to your room,” she said, her voice shaking. She moved her hands inside his
shirt and ran them over his tight abs and chest. Heat soared through her body
at the feel of him. “Together…”

In romance novels, I like my heroes just like you described> In real life a true hero is the man who stands by your side through everything, who holds your hand when you are sad, lends his shoulder when you need to cry, laughs with you, changes diapers, and loves you, even though YOU aren't young, stacked and beautiful
Tammie-You are sooo right! It's the every day things that make a hero so wonderful. Great comment!! Thanks very much for stopping by today. Always fantastic to hear from you. xxoo
I'm with Tamara on this one! She put it beautifully! Thanks for the blog hop! Wonderful post!

One of the traits I like to see in my heroes is a great sense of humor. He's got to make me laugh.
grace(dot)dzee(at)yahoo(dot)com
Tamara said it eloquently.
I think it's wonderful that there's a little of your husband in all your heroes.
janna@jannashay.com
Oh, yes--I do, too--love it that there's a bit of your husband in all your heroes. And that's reciprocal--when I read the heroes, there's a little bit of my husband in them. Love and literature, beyond a simple explanation.
PS: I don't see a way to put my email address into the comment form. Just know that it's Larkin at my website.
Love the hero who is a little bit alpha but also knows that the heroine is his one weakness and he'll do anything to keep her safe and make her happy...:)
I love strong heroes who care. Great post!

I loved what Sharon and Tamara said. I do love those protective heroes that fight for their loves. :) So very sweet. By the way, I loved the excerpt you posted.
imsocool(at)gmail(dot)com
there is such a dichotomy between what I find in novels and what is in real life -- I prefer them both to have some flaws ..perfection doesn't exist and would be boring. The humor, the caring, the sense and knowledge that he is "on your side" even when your side is smelly and bitchy, is important.

Love the post and the snippet. Men in uniform are very attractive and a police officer can be so sexy. Thanks for the giveaway and for an awesome blog hop.

I like a hero who is a bit of a bad boy, but deep down he's got a dark secret to overcome. He also needs to be loyal, honest, have a sense of humor, be confident, and possessive.
Thanks for a chance to win.

My real life heros would be the men in my life, father, husband and brothers. They are there when I need them.DebP

I too agree with Tamara on this one! He should also have a sense of humor and go after what he wants most. A good listener would be great, but we don't want to push it do we :p

I loved how you described your heroes, and that you put a part of your hubby in each of them. I like heroes who would (as my husband likes to say) "take a bullet" for the one they love.
When I hopped over here, I didn't realize you were the author of BtS. I think I've seen that book at the store whenever I go shopping. Next time I'm there, I'll have to pick up a copy.

Hi Joya,
Ilove this blog! I also live with my hero. I can write about strong men who know how to love, are honest, trustworthy, and just plain amazing because I live with the best man I've have ever known. Hopefully, I raised our son to be just like his dad. A hero in the making…

My favorite hero has to be an alpha; tall; handsome, sexy; have a sense of humor; have a six or eight pack; be faithful, loyal, and love his woman/family beyond reason.
